- Biography/History:
- Earle Craig Sweeten is a 1937 graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As an undergraduate, he was chairman of the undergraduate council and captain of the soccer team. He became director of placement of the University in 1950, and vice president of the University for development and public relations in 1965. He was appointed senior vice president in charge of intended capital program in 1976. He raised a total of over 600 million dollars for the University. When Sweeten retired in 1981, an award was established after his name in appreciation of his achievement in fund-raising.

- Earle Craig Sweeten recalled his experience as a student at the University of Pennsylvania, relating how he chose the University, fraternity and extra-curricula activities on campus, interest of Wharton School students, his experience with the Undergraduate Council, and the impact of Depression. He then reviewed his work in fund raising and his experience with the placement operation.
