- Biography/History:
- Peter Shepheard was born in England in 1913. He graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor degree in Architecture in 1936. He arrived in the United States in 1948 to start his architecture firm. In 1959, he joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania as a visiting professor. In 1962, he began to teach at the University on a more regular basis. He was appointed dean of the Graduate School of Fine Arts in 1971 and held that position until 1979. He was knighted in England in 1980.

- The interviewee reviewed his career at the University of Pennsylvania; discussed a wide range of questions, such as connections between architecture and landscape, modern city planning, etc.; and commented on certain buildings on campus and certain road designs in Philadelphia. He also recalled his experience of redesigning the campus landscape of the University, his work as dean of the School of Fine Arts, and his memories of Louis Kahn.
