- Biography/History:
- Lester W. Burket earned both his A.B.(1929) and his dental degree (1932) from the University of Pennsylvania. He also had a medical degree from Yale(1936). He served as Instructor in dental pathology at Yale, 1936-1937, and taught at the School of Dental Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania from 1937 to 1977. He served as dean of the Penn School of Dental Medicine from 1951 to 1972. He retired in 1977, won the honorary degree of Doctor of Science in 1978, and died in 1991. He was former president of the American Association of Dental Schools, Chairman of the Council on Dental Education, and Consultant to the U.S. Army, Navy, and Veteran Administration and the U.S. Public Health Service.
