Biography/History:
S. Reid Warren, Jr., graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in electrical engineering, with an M.S. in 1929 and a doctorate of science in electrical engineering in 1937. He served on both the faculty of the Moore School and the faculty of the school of medicine of the University from 1939 to 1976. In 1951 he was appointed to the office of vice dean of the Moore School, and from 1954 to 1973 he held the office of associate dean of the School. He also served on a number of committees for the American Institute of Electrical Engineers beginning in 1943. Warren retired in 1976.
Summary:
The interviewee reviewed his career at the University of Pennsylvania first as a student and then as a faculty member. He discussed the academic and social aspects of the University, the faculty, his teaching work, his administrative experience at the Moore School, the University in WWII, his opinion of University President Gaylord Harnwell and his personal relationship with Jonathan Rhoads.
