- The Thomas Webb Richards family of Philadelphia, Pa.; college professors of architecture and physics. Thomas Webb Richards (1836-1911): A.M. (hon.), U. of Pennsylvania, (1875); first professor of drawing and architecture, U. of Pennsylvania, (1874-1891); architect for College Hall (1872), Medical Hall (1874) now called Logan Hall, Medical and Dental School Laboratory (1878) renamed Hare Chemistry Laboratory, but demolished, and the first University Hospital building (1874) now demolished; one of the founders of the School of Architecture (1890) now the School of Fine Arts. Horace Clark Richards (1868-1945): B.A. and Ph. D., U. of Pennsylvania, (1888,1891); faculty, U. of Pennsylvania, (1894-1938); professor of physics, optics and mechanics his areas of specialization.
