- Biography/History:
- Born Sadie Beliekowsky in 1889 to Polish immigrants Hyman and Rebecca Beliekowsky. The family had seven children and lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sadie Bell graduated with an A. B. in Latin from Bryn Mawr College in 1912. Bell died in Bucks County in 1953.
- Summary:
- Annotated typescript of Bell's University of Pennsylvania doctoral thesis. The author's name appears on the typescript as "S. Beliekowsky;" however, in the published version her name appears as Sadie Bell. The original title of the thesis was Education, Church, and State in Virginia; this is corrected in the typescript to the present title, presumably in the author's hand.
