Notes:

Though the Thomas almanacs through 1795 were ascribed by Evans to Ezra Gleason, most can be attributed with varying degrees of certainty to other identifiable calculators. C.L. Nichols, in "Notes on the almanacs of Massachusetts" (Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society, n.s., v. 22 (1912): 34), says that the Thomas almanacs from 1791 to 1794 were calculated by Daniel George. In the manuscript collection of the American Antiquarian Society is a letter from George to Isaiah Thomas, dated Aug. 15 1789, replying to Thomas' request for copy for an almanac for 1790, and stating his willingness to provide it, except that he lacks the tables necessary to prepare an ephemeris of the planets' places in the zodiac which Thomas desires. He offers instead a table of the sun's place for every second day in the year. In the Thomas almanacs for 1791-1794 this ephemeris of the sun for alternate days is found at the head of each monthly calendar page in place of the planets' ephemeris which appeared there in previous issues.

The eclipse predictions in the 1791-1794 issues give the moon's "true distance from the ascending node," which is a feature peculiar to the almanacs of George, though Amos Pope adopts the phrase in his almanac for 1795.
