A proclamation. : Whereas it hath graciously pleased Almighty God, to bestow signal victories on His Majesty's arms, and to defeat the united efforts of combined nations, whose powers, even when separate, have been formidable to all Europe .. I have therefore thought fit ... to ordain and appoint .. that Thursday the twenty-third day of this month, be set apart and observed, as a day of public thanksgiving ...
