Biography/History:
Sarton was a founding member of the History of Science Society and founding editor of its journal, Isis. He lectured in the history of science at Harvard University and published Introduction to the History of Science . His major contributions were in the study of ancient Greek and medieval science.
Summary:
Edited manuscript for book based on the Rosenbach Lectures, given at the University of Pennsylvania, in 1953. Topics include medicine, natural history, mathematics, and astronomy. With endnotes and brief index. The typescript is housed in 16 folders. The work was published in 1955, University of Pennsylvania Press.
