- Summary:
- Jones discusses the early years of his career, his audition for the Philadelphia Orchestra, his experience as soloist with the orchestra, the "Torchy Jones" record album, the orchestra strike of 1966, how he attained the position of personnel manager with the orchestra and the duties he performed in the job. Jones also discusses various aspects of the career of Eugene Ormandy, including his sense of pitch, conception of balance in the orchestra (and how doubling was used to help achieve the "Philadelphia Sound"), his sense of dedication to the orchestra, his conducting style and technique, his ability as an accompanist, and his personality.
