Portrait is done is charcoal and portrays Daumier's face in the style of a portrait of one of the King Louis of France. It is dated "lundi 9 mar;" the only appropriate year is 1868.
Doré indicates that he is mimicking a portrait of a particular King Louis of France, but the number of the Louis is illegible.
