- Letter dated 26 November 1754 to Rev. Benjamin Kennicott. Also includes an undated, typed sheet explaining the context of the letter.
- Mention is made in this letter of the "Sentiments" on which Richardson was working, and for which Kennicott was planning the preface. The work was published the following year as A Collection of the Moral and Instructive Sentiments, Maxims, Cautions, and Reflexions, contained in the Histories of Pamela, Clarissa, and Sir Charles Grandison (London: 1755).
- This letter is not contained in The Correspondence of Samuel Richardson edited by Anna L. Barbauld (London: R. Phillips, 1804); but two earlier letters, one from Mr. Kennicott of 9 June 1754, with Richardson's reply of 15 July 1754, may be found in vol. 2, pp. 183-201 of Mrs. Barbauld's edition.
