- Ms. entitled: "Verses written by General P--- in the New Jail, Jany. 1776," attributed to Gen. Richard Prescott. The present copy is probably in the autograph of Nancy Emlen; on the reverse is the notation, "Letters from my beloved friend Nancy Emlen."
- The author of this poem was imprisoned, probably in Philadelphia, for his Loyalist sentiments. The poem criticizes the movement for American independence and the imprisonment of those who oppose it.
