- Summary:
- Copy of a memorial tracing the history of a Philadelphia land patent, including quotations of earlier documents. The original date of the memorial is 27 December 1838; the present copy is dated 13 September 1848 and is entirely in the hand of William M. Meredith, Esq.
- The document discusses John Holme, the original planner of Philadelphia and quotes the following earlier documents: a letter dated 4 June 1684 from William Penn to Thomas Holme, Surveyor General, requesting Holme to survey a piece of property (copy of this letter certified 28 May 1816 by Richard T. Leek); and a surveying certification from Thomas Holme, dated 25 August 1684 (copy certified 28 May 1816 by John Cochran).
