- Francis Scott Key was the composer of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
- Summary:
- Consists of two items. The first is an order to the Bank of Columbia, dated 29 May 1808 at Georgetown, to pay $500 to the Office of Discount and Deposit at Washington; this is mounted on another sheet with the notation that the item is in Key's handwriting. The second is an itemized receipt for $34.90 "for Expenditures for a Detachment of Volunteers unter the Command of Major Geo. Peter, in the late Expedition to Benedict," signed by Key on 30 July 1814 at Washington.
