- Erich Hoffmann was Professor of Dermatology at the University of Bonn; at the time this card was written he was emeritus professor. He participated in the discovery of the syphilis spirochete.

- One post card dated 12 June 1947, in Bonn, to Prof. H. C. R. Simons of the University of Pennsylvania. Accompanied by a sheet of notes in an unidentified hand (possibly Simons') giving information about Hoffmann and also containing some misc. personal notes dated 1948.
