- Summary:
- Petition to William Franklin as Governor and to the Representatives of the General Assembly of New Jersey, convened 10 October 1769. Asks that a law be passed that no one be permitted to practice medicine "without being properly qualified and licenced." Signed by 17 inhabitants of Freehold in Monmouth County. There is a wrapper indicating that the petition was first read on 2 November 1769.
- Notes:
- William Franklin was the son of Benjamin Franklin and was the last Royal Governor of New Jersey (1763-1776). He was put in prison for his Loyalist sentiments.
