In a letter to George Birdwood dated 14 July 1879 Hodgson refers to the Memorandum (p. 26ff) as "printed but not published by me in my Notes of Services" (quoted in J.P. Losty, "The architectural monuments of Buddhism" in The origins of Himalayan studies, ed. David M. Waterhouse (London: RoutledgeCurzon, 2004), p. 103).
