The first vol. of the Anzeiger was issued in three parts (36 no.) 1884-1886, with the Mitteilungen, 1. bd., 1-2. hft., as supplement.

In 1884 the museum began the publication of "Mitteilungen" and "Anzeiger," which took the place of "Anzeiger fur Kunde der deutschen Vorzeit," ed. by the museum, 1853-1883.

The Mitteilungen and Anzeiger were published together -1908 with separate t.-p. and pagination. In 1909 the two became independent.
